I took a shot on this product, despite the fact that it seems like most of the reviews on it may have been farmed (or, at least, they all have similar spelling/syntax/grammar errors that makes me suspicious). I figured I'd write a review from a bona-fide purchaser with what I'd modestly term a not-insignificant background using free weights. I have to say I'm extremely impressed with this particular pair of weights!Let me preface this review with the following statement/opinion: If you're serious about weightlifting/fitness, either as a hobby or a lifestyle, and you have the space then nothing beats conventional weights or dumbbells in either typical format (formed and nonadjustable dumbbells, or dumbbell bars that take conventional weight plates). Dumbbells that present the ability to fine-tune the weight in a simple, quick, and user-friendly format such as these, nautilus select-techs, etc. incorporate mechanisms to facilitate that convenience in a way that may necessitate compromises in the design/use of the equipment a serious weightlifter may frown upon or, at the most severe, risk mechanical failure that can cause serious injury or worse.That said, I am extremely happy with this pair of adjustable dumbbells! I purchased them for an apartment where an array of weights of any conventional format would take up too much space and be inconvenient, but I wanted to have SOMETHING that could be used for general/casual strength-training by multiple individuals in the apartment. The units in general are high-strength plastic which isn't exactly the most impressive thing in its own right, but they feel very solid and have a good feel in-hand. I shopped around for quite a bit, and went with these units for a couple reasons (notwithstanding price; Free Prime shipping on a 70 lb package is nice):-The way the weights assemble to the bar seems a bit more secure than most other formats of similar weights. Looking at similar items I couldn't find a single dumbbell with any number of reviews that didn't have at least one review citing a failure of the mechanism coupling the weights to the bar, risking or causing serious injury to the user. I like that with this unit, the weights don't couple to the bar; They couple to each other. They feel very, very secure.-Most easy-adjust dumbbells utilize a format where the dumbbells rest in stands for storage and weight-adjustment. These do not. I like this for multiple reasons: it makes the weights easier to store and retrieve, and (this is presupposition) without having to rest in a stand to set the weight it allows for more confidence in the security of the adjustments. In other words on those other dumbbells, if a stand warps or gets damaged will it compromise the security of the coupling? I don't know....don't care to find out).-Since the weights attach end-on-end, you don't have any part of the bar protruding from the ends of the unit regardless of the weight setting. Not a huge deal, but it definitely minimizes stubbing your toes on these weights.-The weights are all uniform which makes storage and space management easy; If you're not using the full weight for the dumbbells you can merely take the excess plates, click them all together, and store them out of the way to retrieve as necessary.-The way the weights couple creates a solid assembly; No wiggling or jiggling of plates, which facilitates very consistent and predictable weightlifting motions as well as eliminating the classic jingling sound that sometimes accompanies the use of free-weights. Not a big enough to be a selling point but if you share an apartment with someone who's a light sleeper and on a different schedule than you it becomes a nice plus.That said there are a few things folks may find to critique:-If you want to keep the dumbbells evenly balanced from end-to-end of the bar then the weight gap between settings is 8lbs, 4lbs per plate with one plate on each side of the bar, which isn't negligible. Conventional free-weights allow for smaller gaps.-As mentioned, the item is primarily made of plastic (high quality plastic, but plastic nonetheless) and is made in China; This shouldn't surprise anyone looking for something affordably-priced in the 21st century but I know people that would take issue with either/both of these things so there you go. An item of this quality, made of metal in the US, would probably be at least 3 times this price.-The only structural/durability concern I have: the way the plates lock make me suspect that if the weights are slammed with force, it could cause some damage to the locking mechanism. However, a replacement locking mechanism seems to be supplied with each new set and you don't want to be the tiresome individual slamming weights around regardless of what weights they are; Don't be that guy/gal.Most other potential critiques are critiques that could be thrown at any free weight of this sort (for example, all easy-adjust dumbbells will constrain you as far as maximum weight, etc). As someone who grew up in a household with a garage equipped with a full array of weightlifting bars, plates, and similar equipment, I was not expecting to like these as much as I do. I love them!I've only been using these a few months but so far I really like them and feel even if they're not the most "marquee" or fanciest brand of adjustable dumbells, they provide really good value / are a solid product. The disc removal / re-add mechanism is very simple and reasonably sturdy so I don't have any concerns about those breaking, though they do ship with a couple extra mechanisms in case. I think you'd have to switch them a LOT to break them but that's just a guess.I like the weight range provided by these, defaultig to ~ 35 lb. and when you want to max to higher levels doing curls or lunges, it's easy to stack more on each end. The grips on these are also good and a help whenever doing movements that require rotation as well as lifting / pressing. The disks will move very slightly when rotating but nothing to be alarmed about; they're not going to disengage / fall off or anything like that, so long as you properly snapped them into place before starting.Will update this review down the road but I expect these will last a very long time if cared for properly. In a gym environment where they're being dropped on hard matts and the like they may not fare as well but for home use on some form of carpet or matte, you should be good. Happy workouts and don't forget to stretch before lifting and loosen up between exercise types! ; -)I really like these! The unique design is why I purchased these and I wasn’t disappointed. The design of the plate connection is impressive and easy to use. The handles could probably be a little softer, but I just wear workout gloves. I haven’t had any problems with these so far. Yes, the plates do have have plastic casings so it’s probably best not to clank them together too hard or throw them to the ground. But if you are one who takes care of their equipment you should be happy with these. I do wish they offered the option to buy additional plates only - could probably use 4 more.They work just fine because I bought them for light workouts to get the blood pumping when I have been at my desk too long. For this light use, the quality and durability is adequate, but I get the feeling they wouldn't last too long if I was routinely dropping them on a gym floor from heavy bench work. The process for adding and deleting plates is novel and works well. With my level of use, these will last a long time. Nice grips too and so far they are a good product for the money.The set is ok. The plates easily lock to reach other, but don't fully lock into the dumbbells themselves. Makes for uneasy reps when extending over the head and face.Also the plates are all one size. So adding them evenly leaves large gaps between weights. 8 lbs to 16 to 24, etcI looked for many products out there and this one is the best I could find, I needed one which easy to use and store , this one makes adding and removing weight very easy and convenient, also you can store easily, durable and stable when used, good quality.I looked at the various adjustable dumbbells and came upon these. Many reviews of nordic track's etc. all talk about the adjustment being finicky or breaking and the weight disks rattling.These have been amazing so far. The locking mechanism is rock solid and once you've used them enough you get where you can swap disks one handed. A cool feature is that the disks area all universally 4lbs and can be mixed so using all disks you can have two 32lb dumbbells or one 56lb.Richtig geile Hanteln. Klappert auch nicht so viel wie die anderen. der Verschlussmechanismus klemmt manchmal, aber dann einfach ein Gewicht austauschen auf die andere Seite. Bin soweit sehr zufrieden. Mal schauen was die Langzeiterfahrung bringt.
